This privacy policy covers all the personal information that we hold.
Collection of information
We collect information that is required for use in our business activities.
Whenever we collect personal information from you we will do so in a lawful and fair way. We will also advise you how and where to contact us.
The kind of information we collect and store will depend on the products and services you request from us.
We will tell you why we are collecting the information and any third parties to whom we may be required to disclose that information. As G.E.T. primarily acts in the capacity as agent it is obliged to disclose personal information to other companies involved in providing your travel or related services.
If you do not wish to provide the information we request, we will tell you what impact this will have.
Disclosing information
We will only disclose personal information in accordance with the Act. This means that it will be disclosed if:
- We told you when collecting it that it would be disclosed for that purpose or for a related purpose that you would reasonably expect;
- We have your consent;
- It is part of business assets which we are selling;
- We are required by law to disclose it;
- Or it is otherwise permitted under the Act
Quality of information
We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up to date.
Security
We are committed to protecting your privacy and will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the information we collect is protected from loss, misuse and from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.
Copies of any personal insurance, medical, and/or passport details held by us will be destroyed following the completion of the tour or activity or at the expiration of any statutory period to which the document relates.
To ensure your information remains confidential all G.E.T. employees will be kept abreast of this policy
Database
G.E.T. Educational Tours maintains a database containing organisational and personal details that you have either provided to us or which have been obtained from publicly available directories. We may use this information to advise you of any services or special offers that we think you might find valuable, interesting or educationally useful.
If you do not wish to receive this information your personal details will be removed on written request.
Access to the information we hold
On written request you always have access to the information we have about you. However, there are occasions when this access may be denied under the exemptions contained in the Act.
Availability of policy
A copy of this policy is available upon request. It will be reviewed from time to time and any amendments will be included in the updated policy.
If you have a complaint
Any complaint will be documented and we will attempt to achieve an effective resolution as soon as practicable (generally within 28 days).
We will request details as to:
- How you believe your privacy was breached, what happened, where it happened, when it happened, and who did it
- How this has affected you
- Whether the complaint has been taken to any other agencies, and if so to provide details and copies of relevant documents
You will be informed of the outcome and the reasons for the decision.
If this does not resolve the complaint the matter will be referred to a mutually agreed third party.
If the above steps have been followed and you are still dissatisfied with the outcome you may refer the complaint to the Privacy Commissioner.
