The Concept

Singapore is fast becoming a country of interest for Australian STEM teachers as a safe and interesting destination for student groups. Particularly suitable for students in years 9 to 12, Singapore combines quality STEM experiences with history and culture, arts and adventure.

Please note: We have created this itinerary as a 7 day program to fit most Australian city return flight schedules. Additional days may be added according to your preferred departure city if you would like to include extra Historical experiences in Singapore such as Changi Museum, Battlebox and the Former Ford Factory.

The Program

Advanced STEM programs to consider:

G.E.T is excited to announce our partnerships with Singapore’s leading infocomm media technology innovation and content production company focusing on immersive technology and media (VR/AR/MR). Students learn how to create their own VR content using available technology and the practical use of this style of storytelling widely used for Training, Education, Corporate presentations, Marketing campaigns, Public events, Virtual Tourism regionally and globally.

Using media technology to create outstanding 360 degree storytelling and communication experiences creates social impact and enhances human cognitive capabilities.

 So, what can we do?

 Workshops are available as half-day (introduction) or complete 3-day immersive workshops.

Half day includes:

  • Theory and simple hands-on
  • Introduction of immersive technology and media
  • Review case studies
  • Future trends
  • Trying VR content
  • Trying 360 camera
  • Story boarding
  • Theory and simple hands-on (as above)
  • Visiting heritage or tourism sites and filming their Field trip using gear 360 cameras supplied
  • Uploading and creating your own VR presentation sessions generating a multi-user presentation or virtual tour session for family members and peers
  • Showcase the project at public events, working with partners from various backgrounds and introduce students to difference kinds of online and offline opportunities

This workshop is suitable for up to 40 participants

  • Visiting heritage or tourism sites and filming their Field trip using gear 360 cameras supplied

Content creation

  • Uploading and creating your own VR presentation sessions generating a multi-user presentation or virtual tour session for family members and peers

  • Showcase the project at public events, working with partners from various backgrounds and introduce students to difference kinds of online and offline opportunities

This workshop is suitable for up to 20 participants

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 AUSTRALIA – SINGAPORE (D)

Check in for the flight to Singapore. On arrival at the airport, be met by our representative who will transfer you to your accommodation by private coach. On arrival you will enjoy a meet and greet before transferring to your accommodation. For lunchtime arrivals, you will enjoy an orientation sightseeing tour by coach prior to arriving at your hotel for check in.
Due to the variance in arrival time from each state, the remainder of the day is at own arrangements. Buffet dinner at hotel.

DAY 2 SINGAPORE (B, D)

AM: After breakfast make your way by MRT to the offices of Hiverlab, one of Singapore’s most innovative and progressive media technology innovation and content companies. Students will enjoy a half day workshop* introducing them to immersive technology and media through the use of 360-degree cameras and VR content

PM: Catch the MRT to Marina Bay Sands to visit the Singapore Art Science Museum. We suggest you take your lunch on arrival at one of the nearby food courts (own arrangements). View the current exhibitions and participate in your chosen education workshop session – allow 3 hours.

Note: The guided tour/ workshop is only available from Tuesdays to Thursdays, 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
Take a walk around the Marina Bay complex before making your way to the river pick up point for your Bumboat Cruise to Clarke Quay. Students will enjoy this unique perspective of the city as they cruise along the river. On arrival at Clarke Quay dock, make your way to the restaurant (3 min walk), Dinner tonight is at Kublai Kahn, Mongolian BBQ and buffet restaurant in a spectacular setting overlooking Clarke Quay. After dinner, return to your hotel by MRT.

Note: This itinerary has been designed to allow groups to visit attractions using the Singapore MRT system where possible. The MRT is a world class train system connected via major station interchanges and adjacent to major shopping complexes and food courts. It is safe, inexpensive and extremely convenient. We will provide details on how to purchase your tickets at time of booking. A $20 MRT ticket per person will provide credit for a 5 day stay in Singapore.

DAY 3 SINGAPORE (B)

AM: After breakfast catch the MRT to MediaCorp for a behind the scenes guided tour. Students will be entertained on an interactive journey through the world of media and broadcasting and have the chance to be the star of a TV show, radio DJ or even try your hand at presenting the news. In addition to your behind the scenes tour there are 15 specially curated exhibits highlighting the everchanging face of technology and the media landscape. 

After lunch (own arrangements) take the MRT to Marina Barrage for your guided tour. Learn about how Singapore’s largest urban water catchment manages the clean water supply for this growing city. Tours take approx. 60 minutes and students will learn the three key benefits of the Marina – a new source of water supply, flood control and lifestyle attraction. 

From here it is a short walk (1 km) to the spectacular Gardens by the Bay. This nature park features climate-controlled gardens of the world built on reclaimed land and is a model for sustainable development and conservation. Both guided/self-guided tours are available, as are workshops featuring adaptation, conservation, plant diversity and Ecosystems, and much more. Arriving later in the afternoon allows you to visit both conservatories and the Skywalk, SuperTree Grove and Lightshow which takes place at 7.45pm. A highlight of your visit to Singapore.

Return to the nearby MRT station and return at leisure to your hotel. Dinner tonight is own arrangements.

DAY 4 SINGAPORE (B)

After breakfast, today has been allocated as a free day in Singapore. We recommend spending the day at Sentosa Island and Universal Studios. Take the Cable Car across to Sentosa, an exciting way to arrive! Dinner tonight is own arrangements. Teachers may also consider taking students to see significant historical Singapore sights such as Changi Museum, Battlebox and the Former Ford Factory. (Please note additional costs apply).

DAY 5 SINGAPORE (B)

AM: After breakfast make your way to the MRT to visit the Science Centre Singapore. for a full day program of activities, lecture demos and workshops*. The programs are designed to support student learning with a combination of hands on and inspiring experiences. Return to your hotel around 4pm and enjoy some leisure time at your teachers’ discretion.

 *Teachers will select their preferred hands-on workshop in advance (check the SCS website and view our attachment) – your workshop runs 0930-1130. Students will enjoy the range of interactive displays and educational activities available until approx. 3pm. 

DAY 6 SINGAPORE (B, D)

AM: After breakfast head to the nearby MRT and arrive at the NEWater Centre for your guided tour – allow 90m. students will learn how Singapore creates high grade reclaimed water using advanced membrane technologies and ultra-violet disinfection, ultra clean and safe to drink. On completion of your tour, your private coach will be waiting for you to take you to Fusionworld where you can take lunch at the food court at the base of the building where they offer an excellent range of inexpensive meals for sit down or takeaway. 

PM: After lunch, meet your guide at the designated meeting point in the food court and head up to Fusionworld, where students will embark on a journey of discovery on Singapore’s latest science & engineering research and new technologies. This is a guided tour by experienced Fusionworld staff. As students venture through the five thematic zones, students will explore and discover how cutting-edge technologies can enhance our everyday lives and beyond. Once finished, meet your coach and return to your hotel for some leisure time at your teachers’ discretion before your evening activity.

This evening (approx.6pm), transfer by private coach to the Singapore Zoo Night Safari. Enjoy the buffet dinner and night safari tour, before returning to your hotel by private coach arriving approx. 9pm.

DAY 7 SINGAPORE – AUSTRALIA (B)

AM: You will spend the day with your teachers doing some last-minute exploring. This is a great opportunity to visit Chinatown and shop for souvenirs.

 PM: Transfer by coach to the airport this afternoon to check in for your flight back to Australia.

Please note:

Peak season for travel falls between December and June, with "super-peak" beginning in mid-December and lasting through to the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls in January or February. Singapore F1 is super – peak which is around the last/second last week of September. Schools are recommended to avoid these travel periods.
